Chris Garcia was born and raised in Santa Clara, California. His first job out of high school was at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American Areas as Curatorial Assistant. Chris followed up his time at the Smithsonian by getting his BFA in Creative Writing at Emerson College in 1997.
After stints with the City of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department and La Strange and Associates, Chris joined the Computer Museum in Boston. After 6 months of giving tours and scheduling events, he came back home to California and joined the staff of the Computer History Museum as curator.
In his spare time, Chris produces digital films, attends science fiction conventions around the world, contributes a regular wrestling column to Fanboy Planet and volunteers for the Cinequest and Sonoma Valley Film Festivals. He has also been nominated for four Hugo awards for his fanzine, The Drink Tank. He won the Hugo for Best Fanzine in 2011.
He gave The Greatest Acceptance Speech of all Time.
